Buffalo Bills Make Playoffs: This is a headline that has never appeared on SportsFilter before. The Bills made the playoffs after an improbable last-minute comeback by the Cincinnati Bengals beat the Baltimore Ravens at home Sunday night. Here's how Bills fans and players reacted to the Bengals touchdown pass on fourth and 12 with 53 seconds remaining.

The Buffalo Bills make it to the NFL playoffs because the Cleveland Browns really, REALLY, suck. The final tie-breaker for the Bills/Ravens was strength of schedule. The Ravens beat ZERO playoff teams (but did get two wins against the hapless Browns), while the Bills beat the Chiefs.

So now the Seattle Mariners have the longest active playoff drought among teams in the 4 major North American leagues.

One person pointed out on Reddit that it's been so long since the Mariners have played a playoff game (last one was October 22, 2001) that the Apple iPod didn't exist back then, and NASA confirmed the proposal for a space craft, built it, launched it, watched it get to Pluto, and it will reach an object in the Kuiper belt before the Mariners play in the playoffs again.

If the Bills could have wrangled even one home game, they'd be formidable. With our current deep cold spell of Edmontonian proportions, they'd have a significant home field edge. We're in Day 6 and the spell won't break for another week. In central MA, it's currently 2 F in the sun at midmorning.

When you say it's 2 outside the morning after New Year's Eve, no one bothers to ask if it's 2 above or 2 below. There just isn't enough of a difference to care about.

A home game in Buffalo would be like the Freezer Bowl 81-82 AFC Championship game in Cincinnati, which was ridiculous. If the Bills had a healthy McCoy running hard on frozen ground, they'd be tough to beat.

Instead, Buffalo gets to go to balmy Jacksonville. It's easier there.

I would not be surprised if the Bills go farther in the playoffs than McCoy's hated Eagles do.

You guys are missing the big story.... Browns complete imperfect season

Its nice to have both the Bills and the Titans back in the playoffs after lengthy lags for both. Of course, with both of them sporting wild cards, they'll have to win a couple games if we're to get to see them play each other.

In the seemingly unlikely event that Bills defeat Jacksonville their next stop would be Foxborough. This would appear to be a mismatch, Patriots having beaten Bills twice this season, but the conventional thinking is that it is very difficult to pull off the triple. I think I would rather face any other of the wild card teams if I were Patriots.

That link is going to remain untouched, thankyouverymuch.

Says you. It's supposed to get to around -2C here in NH and I am going to go run around in shorts after a week of days where the high was in single digits Fahrenheit. Of course, all that warm air is doing is making me feel obligated to finally clear the snow off the staircases before we get another 6+ tomorrow and the temperatures go back to "Planet Hoth in Winter". When we sent my sister and brother-in-law home after the holidays I said, "Bet you never expected to go to Aberdeen, Scotland to warm up."

Rake them roof edges, sir. This is going to be a perfect recipe for ice dams.

If you have a large, shaggy mountain dog and a cask of distilled spirits, for god's sake, don't fasten the cask around the dog's neck. Keep it where it will do humanity some good.

I just had to give the Kardashians the devastating news: everyone now knows that "bombogenesis" has nothing to do with them.

The snow blower is gassed up, we have enough bread and milk, oil tank is half full, and the chances are that school will be cancelled. That means that my wife won't have to go to work, and since our one and only brat has long since moved out, all we need to do is to lay low until it stops. The truck has 4-wheel drive and a high road clearance. As fatty and beaverboard well know, winter is just a state of mind and a minor annoyance here in New England.

Winter can be great if you find ways to enjoy it WPG 2018. Biggest gripes up here are not enough snow and temperatures during the winter season that melt the snow prohibiting winter activities.

Thankfully this house doesn't lend itself to them (he said, dangerously), though until today I'd never considered having to dig out the compressor. The old house was built for ice dams, which is how I wound up getting the stinkeye from a Walmart clerk when I bought 50 pounds of calcium chloride and an egg of L'eggs Pantyhose to put it in.
